Under the threat of nationalization, investing in the banks long term is a bad idea.  Unless you're prone to daytrading risk, there is some money to be made on some of the bank stocks volatility.  Recent gains are smoke and mirrors.  Most of it not from lending, which is what banks primary function is, but from trading.  The very act that supposedly made them morally corrupt institutions.  Hey, If you give me a million dollars of my neighbors money I'll speculate in the markets all day long.

If I take my profit and try to give you back the million and you refuse to take it then I'll give it away to charity.  Fuck living by your rules.

Obama will nationalize the banking system.  To not do so would belie his nature.

Alternatives might be found in companies who specialize in purchasing distressed assets.  They should play a role in the tax cheats toxic asset purchase plan - if it ever gets off the ground.

The big tech names are sitting on a bunch of cash and this bodes well for long term NASDAQ index prospects.  Companies like Apple and Oracle will continue to innovate and advance.  They have no choice since Obama and the tax cheat now appear intent on regulating the VC/tech start up industry out of existence.  Got a great idea?  Forget venture capital.  At least Obama's crackdown on credit card interest rates will allow you bootstrap your business by maxing out your personal credit lines.  Can't pay it back.  Fuck it.  Go delinq on your mortgage and get your bail out.

America will learn to profit from moral hazard or America will cease to exist as a primary economic mover.

The Dow has dropped another 250 points today.  More wealth destruction.  The investor class is taking it in the nuts big time.  The Obama presidency has been an utter disaster for the market.  We're back to 1997 levels now.  Obama's spend, cut and tax plans are nothing more than thinly disguised socialist policy implementation.  The President now claims he wants to cut government programs after signing a 1 trillion dollar pork bill. Yeah that's gonna create confidence in the market. And how bout that mortgage rescue plan? It's bad enough people like me have to pay for other people's mortgages but how about the renters? You don't even own a property and your tax money is still being routed to deadbeats in McMansion and McCondos probably with a Lexus payment on top of that default as well. This is what happens when marxists are voted into office. God help us to undo it one day like Reagan did.

Stephen Moore's Wall Street Journal piece about the relavency of Atlas Shrugged in today's economic mess was a most viewed/emailed article for a 2 or 3 weeks shortly after President Obama took office.  Now we are at the point where the President is saying who gets paid how much if you're sucking off the TARP teet. Well here we are. I know for a fact the "TARP police" are reviewing bonus payouts on a case by case basis at these banks. Now they're setting pay limits. They tell us it's only temporary. Right.

Who will stand up for free enterprise? Who defend captialism, political correctness be dammed? Who will expose the evil of unfettered expanding government?

Were is our modern day John Galt?

Besides depravity and horror, the elite Left have found a new god to lead them.

I have avoided coverage of the Big Event all day. Sorry, not interested in the further deification of Barry 'O.  This President doesn't represent my best interests and the direction I think America should be going in. For all his supposed pragmatism, at the end of the day he is a far left radical and the party he represents has no interest in the greatness of America. They want one thing - more government control...of everything. The bailouts are not working. The stimulus bill is a socialist grab bag that will saddle our children with debt, ensure higher taxation and result in the type of hyper inflation we saw in the 70's. Carter redux. We cannot spend and tax our way into prosperity. We can however, spend and tax our way into less freedom, more regulation and a continuation of the War against Achievement. This is why the language of low expectations, promise backpedaling and excuse making has begun. The mantra is, "The party is over - get used to a lower standard of living and be glad for it. It'd be worse if government didn't intervene. "

Pay off your debt.

Invest is safe instruments.

Figure out ways to make extra dough.  Even in times of recession/depression one can make wine from vinegar.

I choose not to participate in Obama's brave new America.

I've Heard This All Before. [Dec. 9th, 2008|11:22 pm]
[music |Gaudi/Robert Rich]

When Bill Clinton ran for President the U.S. economy was in a recession.  The Clinton campaign bandied about slogans like "IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID" and "IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE."

Sound familar?

Also, the Clinton campaign ran on a platform to get the economy moving again by providing a "middle class tax cut" and "investing in infrastructure."  The little guy needed a "targeted tax cut" and we needed to get the people back to work by employing them in public works projects like building roads and bridges.

Sound familiar?

It should.  Becuase its the same socialist horseshit every Democrat sells when running for high office.  It happens to work well when the economy is in a downturn, or when you've got a third party nutcase candidate running.

The Obama message was dumbed down a bit to appeal to the even more ignorant masses 16 years later.  IT'S TIME FOR CHANGE  has been replace by just CHANGE.  And IT'S THE ECONOMY STUPID has been replaced by "PALIN IS A C**T" or some variation thereof.

Plus we've got HOPE.  I love this one.  Hope.
Yeah, hope I can survive the next 4 years and not become a total ward of the state. Hope I can be in the right place at the right time when the next terrorist attack comes. Hope I still have a job by the grace of a free market and private enterprise. Seems to be a rarity all the sudden.  Hope Washington DC isn't populated by a bunch of old hat marxists running the same scams and peddling the same bullshit and corruption.  Ooops.  Already got that.  Clinton, Daschle, Emmanuel.  Donner, Blitzen, Dewey, Cheatem and Howe?

Fuck hope.

This is something to be Thankful For! [Dec. 3rd, 2008|07:41 am]
[music |Steve Roach/Cloud Motion]

Thank Georgia!
Thank Saxby!

For collapsing the hopes for the Dem supermajority that would have been an unmitigated disaster for America.

Now let's send Stewart Smalley back to irrelevance where he belongs.
